Opie Runions
Hershel “Opie” Larimore Runions Jr., 66, of Troy died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, with the Rev. Eddie Mallonee and the Rev. Joe Thorn officiating. Burial will follow in Elbridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Burns, Travis Preuett, Waylon Matheny, William Runions, Scott Runions and Jason Wilson.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was born March 16, 1952, in Union City, son of the Hershel Larimore and Nellie Mae (White) Runions.
He married the former Virginia Dick on July 3, 1971, and she passed away Feb. 4, 2018.
He was retired from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Union City and was a school bus driver for the Obion County School System. He was also a member of Second Baptist Church in Union City.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Judy Runions of Troy and Glenda and Lanny Stewart of Troy; four grandchildren and the spouse of one, Cody and Holly Stewart, Ashlyn Runions, Courtney Stewart and Julianna Northam; one sister, Debra Dutton of Troy; and several nieces and nephews.
