Col. Bill Moss Jr.

Colonel Bill Moss Jr., USAF (Retired), 88, of Saint Paris, Ohio, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, in Urbana Place Assisted Living.
Born on Aug. 24, 1929, in Obion County, Bill was the son of the late Billie and Winnie (Summers) Moss. Bill married Jo Ann Russell on Dec. 23, 1951, and she preceded him in death after 55 years of marriage on Sept. 4, 2007. Together they raised six children: Ann Claire Jarrell of Warner Robins, Ga, Michelle (Don) Mitchell of Scottsdale, Ariz., Susan (Tim) Sando of Bellbrook, Ohio, Bill (Brenda) Moss of Enon, Ohio, Kristi (Tom) McAdoo of Delaware, Ohio, and Jody (Tom) Milligan of St. Paris, Ohio. He was a proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one on the way. Bill is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Charlotte Russell, and several nieces and nephews all of Union City.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Claire (Moss) Edwards and Louise (Moss) Kirkland.
Bill was a 1947 graduate of Union City High School. He received his MBA from Florida State University. Bill served his country in the USAF and was stationed in Vietnam from June 1967 to June 1968. Bill and Jo Ann moved to St. Paris in 1978 after Bill’s retirement from the Air Force. He then worked for Grimes/Midland Ross as a program manager for 15 years. Bill was a member of the St. Paris United Methodist Church and the Order of Daedalians, a fraternal and professional order of American military pilots. He enjoyed restoring and collecting antiques.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday at noon in the St. Paris United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dave Kepple presiding. One hour of visitation will be held prior to the service.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Union City. Bill’s family would like to thank Urbana Place and Hospice of Miami Valley for their loving care.
