Bettye Harris

Bettye Ruth (Norrid) Harris, 70, of Union City, passed away Feb. 13, 2017. She was born April 18, 1946, daughter of the late Paul Norrid and Helon (Wilson) Norrid. She married Cress Harris on May 30, 1964. They had three children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was a member of First Baptist Church Woodland Mills.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017, at First Baptist Church Woodland Mills, with Bro. Rick Burton officiating. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, February 17th at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens near Union City. White-Ranson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Ross Norrid, Wilford Denton, Jerry Thomas, Bill Hutchison, Bob Nichols, Bryce Harris, Kyle McClure and Dr. John Hale. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and deacons emeritus of FBCWM.
The family requests that memorials be made to Gideons International, First Baptist Church Woodland Mills or the charity of the donor’s choice.
Bettye worked at the former Singer sewing center, and was the manager of the JCPenney Catalog Store in Union City. She also enjoyed over 30 years of being a homemaker.
Although her passing came sooner than expected, Bettye was ready to go to her eternal home in heaven. Her love for God, her church and her Sunday school class showed through her sweet spirit. She loved sewing, canning, baking cakes and cooking for her family. She enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband; her son and daughter-in-law, Cyril and Paula Harris; her daughter, Cheryl McClure; and her daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Brennan Wicker, all of Union City; two grandsons and their wives, Bryce and Shelby Harris of Union City and Kyle and Angie McClure of Dresden; a granddaughter and her husband, Krysten and Byron Brown of Estherville, IA; three granddaughters, Macy McClure, Allison Wicker and Marlee Wicker, all of Union City; one great-granddaughter, Dixie Lee Harris of Union City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Linda Norrid of New Boston, TX; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Thomas Harris of Scottsdale, AZ, James Harris of Union City, Larry and Caroline Harris of Huntingdon, Billy and Janice Smith and Phillip and Pam Harris of Union City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold Joe and Patsy Norrid of Troy; and a sister-in-law, Sandra Harris of Union City.
