Dorothy Emmons

Services will be Thursday, Dec. 22, at Memorial Park, located at 5668 Poplar Ave. in Memphis. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. in the chapel, followed by the eulogy at 2 and interment in the mausoleum at Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Johnnie Sowell, Brian Woodruff, Sharp Emmons, Rusty Sharp,  Billy Ashcraft and Lee Webb. Residents and staff of Etheridge House Assisted Living will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family requests memorials be made to the recipient of their choice.
Born July 18, 1926, in Corinth, Miss., she was the daughter of Samuel Irva Sharp and Beatrice (Carroll) Sharp, both of whom preceded her in death.
A retired homemaker, she was the widow of James H. Emmons, her husband of 57 years, who died Feb. 29, 2000.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathy Lynn Emmons; three brothers, Samuel Irva Sharp Jr., Loy Moffett Sharp and Carroll Hyneman Sharp; her sister, Louise (Sharp) Counce; and her granddaughter, Jessica Leanne Emmons.
Survivors include her son, James M. Emmons and his wife, Jill R. Emmons of Union City, and her daughter, Deborah Anne Emmons of Germantown. In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Faye Lawrence and Virginia Ann Moss of Corinth, Miss.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Surviving grandchildren include Jason Sharp Emmons and his wife, Elizabeth (Cook) Emmons of Nashville;  Amanda (Emmons) Persons and her husband, Benjamin S. Persons, of Marietta, Ga.; Brian Emmons Woodruff and his wife, Amanda Chambers Woodruff, of Tigard, Ore.; and Angela (Woodruff) Martinez and her husband, Wilfredo Martinez, of Palm Bay, Fla.
Ten great-grandchildren survive, including Alafair Marie Persons, James Henry Persons and Oliver Samuel Persons, all of Marietta; Vivian Sharp Emmons and Stella Rule Emmons, both of Nashville; Aaron James Woodruff and Everett Dean Woodruff, both of Tigard; Jonas Alexander Martinez and Jacob David Martinez, both of Palm Bay; and Emily Katherine Emmons of Germantown.
