A memorial service is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Leggett officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.
The family requests that memorials be made to Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope.
He was born Feb. 11, 1948, in Osceola, Ark., son of the late Elmer Boyce and Martha Marie (Smith) Stewart. After the accidental death of his parents, he was raised by Jo Ruth Smith of Hornbeak and the late Claude Smith Jr.
He married the former Martha Jo Spalding July 24, 1982. She survives.
He was a retired employee of the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where he had worked for 39 years, and was a Methodist and a member of United Steel Workers. He was also an avid duck hunter.
He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Nathan Tanner of Union City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Tanya Stewart of Munford and Jamie and Laura Stewart of Jackson; six grandchildren, Tim Stewart, Steven Stewart, Danielle Eaves, Dakota Eaves, Jake Burt and Hope Burt; five great-grandchildren, Ainsley Stewart, Jonathan Stewart, Blakeley Stewart, Beaux Stewart and Lucy Nelson; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Eddie Forrester of Rives, Ann and Robert Adams of Sharon and Peggy and Mike Powers of Horn Lake, Miss.; four nephews; five nieces; and several cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews.
