Hattye Sledge
She died at Baptist Health in Paducah, Ky.
Mrs. Hattye had worked as a sewing machine operator for the former HIS plant. She was a devoted member of New Bryant’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
She was born in Jackson June 11, 1937, to the late Frank and Johnny Mae Polk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Elmer Sledge; her daughter, Donna Crumble; her brother, Frank Polk; and two sisters, Betty Jean Polk and Molly Cross.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Hickman. Elder Richard Holloway and the Rev. Albert McCadney will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Hickman City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 Saturday.

Mrs. Sledge is survived by her sons, Johnny Polk of Dallas, Ricky Polk of Lexington, Ky., Jimmie Sledge of Union City and Ronell Sledge of Columbia, Mo.; her daughters, Marnita Gatewood of Bowling Green, Ky., Elisa Sledge of Louisville, Ky., and Georgia Cole of Statesboro, Ga.; her stepdaughter, Debra Cheirs of Hickman; her sisters, Birdie Denton of Shelbyville, Ind., and Gwen Polk Parrish of Indianapolis; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
