Joy Barker

She was born Thursday, Nov. 4, 1937, in Dyersburg, the daughter of the late William Ernest Baldridge and the late Johnnie Allie Cooper Fultz. She was a retired nurse with the Women’s Clinic of Union City, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, worked with Habitat for Humanity in Obion County and was a member of the Obion County Master Gardeners.
Graveside services for Mrs. Barker will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Obion County Memorial Gardens. Officiating this service will be the Rev. Nathe Ozment. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern.
Pallbearers will be Clifford Barker, Russell Barker, Ronnie Newhouse, Jeremiah Parkin, J.T. Jones and Bobby James.
The family ask that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4825 Trousdale Drive, Suite # 220, Nashville, TN; or the Parkinson Foundation, 2300 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
She is survived by her son, John W. Barker, III (Mona J.) of Union City; her daughter, Sandy Barker Epperson (Steve) of Dyersburg; four grandchildren, Jordan Barker of Cordova, Sydney Parkin (Jeremiah) of Dyersburg and Sarah Epperson and Shellie Epperson, both of Memphis; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis Parkin and Nathan Parkin, both of Dyersburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John W. Barker Jr.; her brother, William Kuhron Baldridge; and her sister, Mary Helen Stover.
