Arlen Blanton

Arlen was born Aug. 18, 1932, in Union City, son of the late Odie and Nova (Ladd) Blanton. He was a retired steel mill worker who had been employed for 39 years at Great Lakes Steel in Michigan. Arlen was a Korean War veteran who enjoyed working, farming and the outdoors. He was of the Christian faith.
 He is survived by his son, Jerry (Renia) Blanton of Somerset; his daughter, Barbara Blanton of Michigan; his brothers-in-law, Eddie Mounce and Jimmy Mounce; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Blanton of Martin, Sharon Kilgore, Janie Bullock, Georgie Szlachta and Frances Balentine; his grandchildren, Arlen Blanton of Berea, Ky., Sandra (Jason) Mullins, of Lincoln Park, Mich., and Karen (Brad) Cole, of Berea; his great-grandchildren, Lexi Mullins, Jason Mullins Jr., Arey Mullins and Nate Mullins; his nephews, Kenneth Blanton, Raymond Blanton and John Blanton; and his nieces, Aletha Ritchie and, like a daughter, Doris Donati, of Somerset.
Preceding Arlen in death were his parents and his brother, Gene Blanton.
Visitation will be Friday at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home, with Bro. Bradley Goforth officiating. Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.
