John King

Mr. King was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Obion County and was raised on his family farm. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Courtland and Bessie (Hampton) King; and his siblings, James King, Ralph King, Al Hampton King and Ramille King Williams.
Mr. King married the former Kathleen Cunningham. They were happily married for 37 years. They had a son, Barry, and a daughter, Wanda. John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he rose to the rank of chief master sergeant. John served his country during World War II and the Korean War and in the Vietnam era for 30 years.
John married the former Anna Laura Mitchell in Union City in November 1986. John and Anna lived for many years in Union City and Hendersonville. They were happily married for 30 years.
John is survived by those he loves most in the world; his loving wife, Anna Laura (Mitchell) King of Hendersonville; his son, Barry King of Little Rock, Ark.; his daughter, Wanda (Gary) Crouch of Kingston Springs; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and a member of Church of Christ. Mr. King will be greatly missed by all who had the joy of knowing him.   
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Freed-Hardeman University’s Pete Parker Scholarship Fund, 158 East Main St., Henderson, TN 38340. Please be sure to note your donation to this specific fund in memory of John W. King.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1-3 p.m., with a celebration of John’s life following at 3 p.m. All will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home at 353 East Main St. in  Hendersonville. Mr. King will be buried at Terrace Hill Cemetery in Troy Thursday at 11:30 a.m.
