Dottie Eckman

Dottie will be remembered for her mark on her community, serving on many boards, including the American Heart Association of Davidson County. She was a successful business owner of Oliver’s Restaurant for many years and was the first in Nashville to pioneer the selling of gift baskets with Basket Occasions.
She also loved her recreational time, playing golf and bridge, traveling and decorating her flocked Christmas trees during the holiday season. Her love for her family always remained her constant source of joy throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lawrence M. Eckman Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Larry (Lynne) Eckman, Beth (Bob) Gurley, Vicki (Roland) Brunhoeber; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Lauren, Austin, Sara, Rachel, Margaret, Chris, David and Jason; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will gather with friends for a time of remembrance and visitation Friday at Brentwood Baptist Church from noon-2 p.m., with a Celebration of Life service to follow in Baskin Chapel at 2 p.m. Mrs. Gayle Haywood will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville.
The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to the Orphan Care Ministry at Brentwood Baptist Church.
