She was born March 30, 1940, in Union City, daughter of the late Chester Warterfield and Anne (Russell) Caldwell. She was the widow of William Mackie. She grew up in Union City and graduated from Union City High School. She attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La., and had worked in retail sales for the majority of her life. She had managed several women’s clothing stores, including Franklin Simon, M.M. Kohn, Gus Mayer and Dawahares in Memphis. She had also been the owner and operator of Edna’s Boutique in Hernando, Miss., and she had been employed as store manager at Family Dollar Store in Hernando. She retired from Federal Express in Memphis.
She was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed great friendships, as she did with her friends in the Snow Lake community, where she lived.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Jennifer Adkins of Senatobia, Miss.; six grandchildren, Chloe, William, Ana, Jeremiah, Corban and Nora Adkins; her brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Donna Caldwell; two nieces, DeLise Caldwell and Patricia Moore; and her nephew, Robert Caldwell.
She was preceded in death by her identical twin sister, Ann (Caldwell) Pierce; and her brother-in-law, Harmon Pierce.
