Jean Green

She was born Dec. 22, 1925, in Jackson, daughter of the late Charles Albert and Mattie Florence (Sanders) McGill. She married W.R. “Bill” Green Jr. Sept. 10, 1954. He died March 19, 2003.
She had been employed at The Messenger and was also a freelance writer for area newspapers.
She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Richard and Vicki Green of Bristol, Tenn., Don and Pat Green of Knoxville and Dave and Terry Green of South Fulton; five grandchildren, Hope Sleesman of Aurora, Colo., Megan Green of Wilmington, N.C., Erin Gardner of Apollo Beach, Fla., Emily Tucker of Knoxville and Zach Green of Union City; and four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Sleesman, Peyton Sleesman and Hallie Sleesman, all of Aurora, and Michael Tucker of Knoxville.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Oliver, Jessie Alexander, Edith Wallace and Nellie Warlick; and two brothers, Windy McGill and Dick McGill.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
There will be no funeral services. White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
