Hazel Baker
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Hazelwood officiating. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Scott Wiley, Tyler Baker, Justin Baker, Chadwick Milton, Thomas Alberty and Scotty Fortner.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
She was born May 26, 1943, in Obion County.
She was raised by her grandparents, Sally and Hubert “Hot Tamale” Milton. She married Jerry Brown Baker June 18, 1960. He survives. She was a member of Mount Pelia Baptist Church and she ran the Farmers Market in Martin for several years.
She is also survived by three sons and their wives, Terry and Patsy J. Baker of Sharon and Cress and Vicky Baker and Mark and Jeanine Baker, all of Martin; her daughter and her husband, Tammie and Bobby Terry of Hornbeak; two brothers, Cecil Newsom of Arkansas and Johnny Newsom of the Shawtown community; two sisters, Wanda Crowell of Rives and Barbara Newsom of Obion County; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her lifelong friend, Thomas Nash.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Will J. Newsom, D.C. Newsom and Michael Newsom.
