George Jones
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lara Kendall Elementary School gymnasium in Tiptonville. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The Jones family will receive visitors from 5:30-9 p.m. today at the school.
Pallbearers will be R.J. Hays, Jake Sadler, Richard Blackburn, Austin Williams, Jacob Chadwick, Adam Lyle, Travis Williams and Matt Erwin. Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Lamb, Keith Gardner, B.J. Morgan, Ricky Dilday, Jake Mason, Jared Peyton, Josh Evans and B.J. McBride.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the 913th Combat Engineers Unit in memory of Sgt. Jones or to the 913th Combat Engineers Unit for Sgt. Jones Children’s Fund.
He was a city carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. George was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of Combat Vets Association. He was also an active member of the Tennessee National Guard 913 Combat Engineers.
Survivors include his wife, Ginger (Caksackkar) Jones of Obion; two daughters, Breanna Bland and Summer Jones; two sons, Andrew Bland and Skyler Jones; his mother, Ann (Dunn) Jones Olhausen and husband, Tommy, of Obion; his father, George Jones and wife, Judie, of Tiptonville; his brother, Michael Lynn Jones of Tiptonville; two stepbrothers, Jake Carrother of Kennedy, Texas, and David Olhausen of Ridgely; two stepsisters, Leah Lindsey of Lumberton, Texas, and Kerri Newson of Dyersburg; and a grandchild, Chandler Jackson Kuykendoll.
