Hazel Powell

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Obion County Memorial Gardens, with Dr. Bobby Williams officiating. There will be no visitation. White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be her four sons and two nephews, David Dixon and Tim Dixon.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Reseach Hospital.
She was born Oct. 22, 1935, in Hickman County, Ky., daughter of the late William and Bertha Mae (McWherter) Pinion. She married Allen Veltman Powell in 1952. He died Oct. 5, 2009. She was retired from the former Brown Shoe Co., where she had worked for 36 years, and was a Baptist.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Amanda Powell of Troy, Stan and Phyllis Powell of Rives and Jimmy and Tina Powell and Jason and Dawn Powell, all of Union City; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Sandy and Joey Mehlhorn and Jill Powel, all of Martin, Nick Powell of Nashville, Christy and Jeremy Bugg and Clint Powell, all of Union City, Lauren and Doug Walker of North Providence, R.I., Caroline Powell of Warwick, R.I., Sarah and Isaac Strickland of Milan and Ashley Powell of Smithville; her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Mike Fox of Plano, Texas; her brother, Ronnie Pinion of Andalusia, Ala.; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her brother and two sisters.
