Betty Steider

She was born on Jan. 9, 1927, in Union City, the daughter of William and Lola McAdoo. Betty grew up in Union City, attending the former Westover Elementary and Union City High School. Betty received an associate’s degree from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. She worked as a recorder of deeds at the Obion County Courthouse in Union City until she married Paul Steider in 1952. She worked primarily as a homemaker, raising three children, Paula, Tom and David.
She also worked as a volunteer at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Overland Park, Kan.
Betty and her family settled in Kansas City, eventually retiring in Bella Vista, Ark.
Betty loved baseball her entire life and also loved dogs, especially her favorite, an Alaskan Malamute named Kishka.
Betty is survived by three children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
