Shelia VanDyke
Services will be noon Tuesday, March 8, at Faith Temple Church of God in Jackson, Mich., with family hour beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the church.
Shelia was born March 2, 1948, in Jacks Creek, near Lexington, Tenn. She was married to Lynn VanDyke for 46 years. She attended Jackson Public School System.
Shelia will be most remembered for her joyful spirit and beautiful smile, and, of course, she loved to talk. She was a woman who had a very good sense of humor, who loved spending time with her family and friends. She had many hobbies such as ceramics, crocheting and gourmet cooking, just to name a few. Shelia was a very classy lady with impeccable style and taste, who never had a hair out of place.
Shelia is survived by her loving husband, Lynn VanDyke; her stepfather, Sherman Smith; two sons, Abdul VanDyke and Jamail VanDyke, both of Union City; her daughter, Elizabeth Belew of Lansing, Mich.; four sisters and her brothers-in-law, Loral and Embra Banks and Patricia and Rodney Brown-Ashworth, all of Jackson, Mich., and Edna Sherrod and Pam Sherrod-Smith, both of Minneapolis; two brothers and her sister-in-law, Larry Sherrod of Jackson, Mich., and Gary and Pinky Sherrod of St. Paul, Minn.; a very special family friend, Theresa Ingram of Union City; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Travis Sherrod and Raymell Smith; her grandparents, John and Mattie Arnold and Frank and Helen Sherrod; and her brother, Clarence Brown.
