The family asks that you consider donations to The National Kidney Foundation or to Wounded Warrior Project in Jana’s name: National Kidney Foundation at https://www2.kidney.org/members/source/donations/index.cfm or Wounded Warrior at https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/default.aspx.
She was born on April 13, 1962, in Houston to James and Marcella Boomer.
Jana had just received a new kidney and a new lease on life when she developed acute pancreatitis and finally succumbed to complications after a month-long fight at UCLA Medical Center.
Jana was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, friend and Marine wife. She touched the lives of everyone she knew and her passing will leave an emptiness that will never be filled.
Jana and her husband, Link Ermis, who is a former resident of this area, moved into the Huntsville community after retiring from the Marine Corps in 2007 and she has been teaching in Huntsville Independent School District since.
Jana is survived by her mother, Marcella Boomer; her husband of 31 years, Link Ermis; her two children, Slade Ermis and Brooke Sweet; her two grandchildren, Hunter Sweet and Liam Sweet; and three sisters, Laurie Laman, Tracey Griffith and Leah Henderson, along with the children she has taught while at Huntsville Intermediate and Mance Park Middle schools over the past eight years.
She is preceded in death by her father, James Boomer.
