Ronnie Johnson

Ronnie Johnson, 70, of Tiptonville died Aug. 19, 2013, at his brother’s home in Tiptonville.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Manuel Cemetery near the Walnut Log community, with Terry Gooch and Gary Haynes officiating.
Visitation will be held noon until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Rance Barnes, Bryan Key, Josh Gregory, Eric Gregory, Dusty Gooch and Wayne “Butterball” Pride.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Cramer, William “Dub” Leland, Lonnie Bratton and Jerry Waggoner.
He was born April 25, 1943, in Muskegon, Mich., son of Mildred Marine (King) Johnson of Union City and the late Bennett “Rass” Johnson. A United States Army veteran, he served in Korea, where he was a radio operator. He was a self-employed carpenter and a commercial fisherman on Reelfoot Lake. He was the assistant supervisor for the construction of Air Park Inn on Reelfoot Lake.
Inspired by Henry David Thoreau and “Walden” or “Life in the Woods,” he spent several months living off the land on Caney Island in Reelfoot Lake in the late 1980s.
He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Kathy Johnson of Tiptonville; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Jennifer and Nicky Barnes of the Clayton community, Shelvie and Johnny Key and Donna Gregory, all of Union City, and Reta and Terry Gooch of Springville, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Billy Johnson.
