Robert Donald “Don” Green, age 75, of Sharon, went to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, Dec.18, 2019. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield with Dr. Ken Lewis of Briarwood Baptist Church in Cordova, Rev. Kylan Mann of Central Baptist Church in Martin and Rev. Jim Raney of Balboa Baptist Church in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Burial followed in Tansil Cemetery out of Sharon. Pallbearers were grandson, Austin Taylor Green, Brandon Thomas Green, Jacob Donald Green, Joseph William Green and nephews, Chris Frazier of Sharon and Adrian Raney of Hot Springs Village. Honorary pallbearers were David Green of Sharon, Kenneth Hite of Bartlett, Don Allen of Cordova, Wayne Shanklin of Trenton and Larry Tilley of Dyer. Don was born Oct. 18, 1944, to Rebecca and Cecil Green. He graduated from Sharon High School in 1962. He served in the United States Army from 1965-67. He was awarded several medals including the Vietnam Service Medal. He worked for Kellogg Company in Memphis from 1968until he retired in 2002. He married Gynella Raney in 1968 and lived in Memphis for 51 years. Don was a member of Briarwood Baptist Church in Cordova for more than 46 years where he served as deacon. He had just moved back to Sidonia two months ago and on Dec. 15 joined the Central Baptist Church in Martin. Don is survived by his wife, Gynella Raney Green of Sharon; three sons, Robert “Bob” Green of Sharon, Eric (Lori) Green and Greg Green, both of Munford; four grandsons, Austin, Brandon, Jacob and Joseph of Munford; a sister, Suzanne Frazier (Eulaine) Nanney of Dresden; brother-in-law, Jim (Pam) Raney of Hot Springs Village; and lots of nieces and nephews, who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by parents, Rebecca and Cecil Green; a brother, Gary Thomas Green; nephew, Joey Frazier; stepmom, Hazel Wilson Green; and daughter-in-law, Heather Green.
