Yates R. Scribner

Mr. Yates R. Scribner, 70, a resident of Union City, died Nov. 21, 2017, at Jackson-Madison County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Dr. Cecil Sewell officiating.
Burial will follow with full military honors in the Obion County Memorial Gardens in Union City.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be members of the Tennessee National Guard 913th Engineer Co. in Union City. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Counce, Max Hardin, Woody Emery, Robin Garland, Ken Seals, Jerry Ward, Greg Evanson, Allen Tidwell, H. E. Garrigan, George Burns, Obion County Sheriff’s Department and members of the Tennessee National Guard 194th Brigade.
Mr. Scribner was born on Jan. 20, 1947, in Brighton, son of the late James Scribner and Martha (Horn) Scribner of Union City. He married the former Mary Ann Oliver on March 23, 1968. She survives.
He retired from H & O Tool & Die Maker where he was a machinist and was a retired First Sergeant from the Tennessee National Guard, 194th Engineer Brigade, Jackson. He was a member of VFW Post 4862 and Masonic Lodge 538 Union City.

Mr. Scribner is also survived by a daughter, Gretchen Scribner of Dallas, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Holly Scribner of Union City; two grandsons, Lazzarus Scribner and Landon Scribner, both of Union City; and a sister, Jackie Dodd of Union City.
