Cotton Whitworth

Gerald Lynn “Cotton” Whitworth, 86, of Kenton passed away from this life on Sept. 18, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Funeral services for Mr. Whitworth were conducted 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, in the chapel of Macedonia Baptist Church, with Bro. Jake Wylie and Bro. Michael Julian officiating. Interment followed in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was born Jan. 12, 1936, in Rutherford, son of the late Cloys Russell and Ella Fay Eddlemon Whitworth. He was a small-engine mechanic at Sanderson Hardware before his retirement, and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He served his country with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his children, Trayce Wylie (Jason) and Kelly Whitworth (Ginger); his siblings, Margaret Lovell and Pat Garner; four grandchildren, Jake Wylie (Kendall), Nicholas Wylie (Halley), Caden Wylie and Cole Whitworth; and one great-grandson, Jaxton Lee Wylie.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Little Whitworth; his parents; and siblings, Ray Whitworth, Aron Whitworth, Harold Whit-worth, Johnny Whitworth and Mildred Garner.
The family received friends from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
