HELP IS HERE — The Obion County Prevention Coalition, in partnership with Main Street-Union City and the Obion County Chamber of Commerce, are providing a place to sit at Merchants Park in downtown Union City, but also reminding residents that Obion County cares about people. The bench lets people know “Addiction can happen to anyone. Help is Here 1-800-889-9789.” “We wanted to put a bench downtown to remind people to pause and sit for a minute and know addiction can happen to any of us and that Obion County cares,” said Carla Aaron, Obion County Prevention Coalition coordinator. She said two more benches are planned for placement in the county — one with the mental health helpline and the other for the Tennessee Tobacco Quitline. Among the first to use the bench were (front, from left) Union City city manager Kathy Dillon, Main Street president and Obion County Joint Economic Development Corporation community relations director Brooke Simmons and (back) coalition representatives Kathy Bailey, Micah Smith and Mrs. Aaron.
