Joyce Gwaltney, 89, of the Oak Ridge community died Friday, July 29, 2022, at AHC in Union City.
Funeral services were to be held at 1 p.m. today at Oak Ridge Church of Christ. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the hour of services at the church. Brother Rick Knoll was to officiate. Burial was to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Nauer, Kenneth Sanders, Bill Randolph, Steve Smith, Joe Mann and Randy Mouser.
She was born March 4, 1933, in Obion, daughter of the late Charlie and Elizabeth (Crossno) Call. She and her husband owned the former grocery store in Elbridge. Mrs. Gwaltney was a member of Oak Ridge Church of Christ.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff Gwaltney of Union City and Scott Gwaltney of Obion; two daughters, Debra James of Obion and Diane (Jim) Nauer of Cordova; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe D. Gwaltney, who died May 27, 2007.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Alzheimer’s Association: Mid South Chapter, 326 Ellsworth St., Memphis, TN 38111 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
