CELEBRATION OF SERVICE — Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee made a stop at Boyette’s Dining Room at Reelfoot Lake near Tiptonville Wednesday afternoon as part of his year-long celebration of Tennessee’s 225 years of statehood. The restaurant, owned and operated by sisters Fran Hearn (left) and Jan Boyd (not pictured), has its own reason to celebrate as 2021 marks the popular restaurant’s 100th year of feeding friends, family, hunters and visitors to Reelfoot Lake State Park. Lee and those in attendance enjoyed a meal of the food Boyette’s is famous for — fried fish, country ham and biscuits, onion rings and hushpuppies — before heading to Dyersburg on his “Untold Tennessee” tour which will take him to all 95 of Tennessee’s counties as part of the celebration.
