‘CAN’-DO ATTITUDE — Dan Huggins, an Obion County Ministerial Association member who pastors the Refuge Church in Union City, sorts through the stack of canned goods already donated or purchased for the 1,500 sacks of groceries which will be given free to those in need in the community during the upcoming Feeding of the 5,000. This year’s Feeding of the 5,000 grocery distribution is set for Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Obion County Fairgrounds, where the church meets, followed by a winter coat giveaway there from 3-5 p.m. They will be followed by the Thanksgiving Soul Food Café, which provides a free meal and fellowship to anyone, from 5:30-7 that night at the church’s site at the fairgrounds, located at 1711 East Church St. in Union City. The events are sponsored by the ministerial association, local churches and many individuals in the community.
