RAISING MONEY, AWARENESS — With a helpful push from her husband, Charles, and the support of her family and friends, Larrabee Kirkland of Union City made her way around Discovery Park of America Saturday morning as part of the Walk to Defeat ALS. More than 400 people participated in the walk, at least doubling the original fundraising goal of $20,000. Participants were given keys on lanyards and thanked for doing their part to help unlock a cure for ALS. Organizers were so overwhelmed by the response to the first-time event, they are planning to make it an annual fundraiser.
