Gordon Morris

Gordon Morris, age 82, of Sidonia Road, Sharon, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, at Diversicare in Martin. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Martin with Rev. Randy Cooper and Rev. Phillip Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Tansil Cemetery in Sharon with Murphy Funeral Home of Martin in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be from 4-7 tonight (Tuesday) at the funeral home, or after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church until service time. He was a graduate of Gleason High School, Bethel University, Murray State University and received his doctorate at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  He was a retired Biology Professor at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He served on the Weakley County School Board from 1987-2018 and served as chairman from 1993-2016. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Martin. Morris is survived by his wife, Paula Allen Morris of Sharon; two daughters, Melanie Morris of Buchanan and Leslie (Dymitr) Wach of Sharon; and one son, Allen Morris of Sharon. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marjorie June Cook and Evelyn Tucker; a brother, Thomas Ray Morris, and his parents, Hughlon Allen and Georgia Jewel Brawner Morris.
