VETERANS VISIT — Lake Road Elementary School students Aubrey Davidson (left), a kindergartner, and Ally Davidson, a third-grader, enjoyed a visit with their father, U.S. Navy veteran Shad Davidson of Mayfield, Ky., during the school’s annual Veterans Day breakfast this morning. Davidson served in the Navy from 1991 to 2003 and was a machinist’s mate (submarine). The breakfast for all military personnel and their families preceded the school’s Veterans Day Celebration, which featured fourth- and fifth-graders, the junior high band and keynote speaker SPC Johnny Dyer, a veteran who now teaches at Ridgemont Elementary School in the county system. Similar programs were held today at schools around Obion County.

Shad is a great guy, he was my Navy Recruiter and one of the main reasons I had joined the Navy and left to serve back in June of 2001. It was really cool when I got to the fleet too, one of my old L.P.O.’s had served with Shad back in the 90’s and told me a lot of crazy stories they had while serving on sub’s a long time ago. Hope all is well Shad and I would love it if he got to see this message. Your old friend John Roden.
