Dyersburg City Schools on lockdown

UPDATE 3:10 p.m. Sept. 25, 2019

The following post was made by Dyersburg City Schools updating their earlier Facebook post about a threat on the Dyersburg High School campus:

Before 11 a.m. we received a report of a threat to Dyersburg High School. Following our procedures, we went on immediate lockdown. The Dyersburg Police Department and local authorities responded extremely quickly and appropriately to secure the building and grounds. After an extensive search, no threat was found. The process to secure the building and grounds was completed within two hours.

Lunch was served and students ended the day on our normal schedule. The situation remains under police investigation.

We will have a continued presence on all of our campuses. School will resume tomorrow as normal. We will have additional safety measures in place to ensure the safety of our students.

 

UPDATE 12:57 p.m. Sept. 25, 2019

The following post was made by Dyersburg City Schools at 12:57 p.m. today:

Before 11 a.m. we receive a report of a threat. Dyersburg High School went on immediate lockdown. Our police department and local authorities responded quickly and appropriately to secure the building and grounds. After an extensive search no threat was found. The situation remains under investigation. The perimeter of the building will remain secure with entrances blocked until further notice. Police will remain on campus.  School will remain in session until the end of the day. The safety of our students is our primary concern. We will have a further statement at 3 p.m. today.

According to the City of Dyersburg’s Facebook post at noon today, there has not been a shooting or an active shooter at Dyersburg High School.
The Dyersburg Police Department is clearing Dyersburg High School due to a phone call.

UPDATE 12:30 p.m.

Dyersburg City Schools Facebook post stated:

Dyersburg Police received a call and have responded to Dyersburg High School. Precautionary measures are in place and procedures are being followed.

Dyersburg City Schools are working closely with the Dyersburg Police Department and other agencies.

Students and faculty are safe.
