SILLY SOCKS — Children across the county are having fun this week dressing up in silly ways as they celebrate Read Across America and Dr. Seuss. South Fulton Elementary School fifth-graders (from bottom, clockwise) Ben Swift and Trey Jackson, second-grader Hayden Bye, kindergartners Knox Bye and Emma Hamrick, fourth-grader Makendria Johnson, fifth-graders Ivy Kate Morris and Caroline Barclay and second-graders Avery Faulkner and Kinley Cox were among those who wore crazy and mismatched socks at the school today in honor of the Dr. Seuss book “Fox in Socks,” which features silly tongue twisters. Ridgemont students wore their silly socks on Monday, while Lake Road and Union City Elementary students will wear theirs on Thursday. Hillcrest and Black Oak will be celebrating Read Across America next week, when Black Oak students will wear their mismatched socks on March 8. The Obion County Public Library, which has a full week of events planned for this week, is encouraging patrons to wear their silly socks today and go on a hunt for a hidden sock at the library. Those who find it and take a photo may present the photo for a special prize.
