Rick Burress

Rick’s visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and celebration of life will begin at 4 p.m., both at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home at 2201 Dr. MLK St., St. Pete.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard W. Burress, and his stepmother Sharon Burress.
He moved with his mother and siblings to Treasure Island, Fla., in 1968 where he grew up and attended Boca Ciega High School. Rick was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors, including family camping outings, as well as boating and water skiing. Rick spent most of his adult life working at Isla Del Sol, which included two years helping during the construction phase. When construction was completed, Rick became the maintenance manager at Casa Del Mar II, where he spent 33 years keeping their buildings and grounds in tip top shape. One of his passions there was his love of the landscaping around the property.
Casa Del Mar II at Isla Del Sol was Rick’s family away from home; he knew three generations of some owners’ families and he amazed all at how he remembered the names of everyone with a smile and always with conversation to keep current on their family activities.
Rick is also survived by his mother, Patricia J. Spriggs; his brother, Bruce Spriggs; his sister, Kandy Burress; his stepbrother, Blake Meador-Adams; his aunt, Joyce Hamblin; and many cousins.
