Dr. Fred Hansen Jr.

His family will host a memorial gathering at Discovery Park of America in Union City Nov. 14 from 2-4 p.m. Friends are welcome.
He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa,  Jan. 12, 1936. Fritz began his community service at an early age by earning the rank of Eagle Scout, which led to a lifelong passion for camping, hunting and fishing.
A graduate of Eastern High School in Louisville, Ky., in 1955, he continued his education at Ole Miss, where he was an active member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry in Memphis in 1963.
Following dental school, he served as a captain in the U.S. Army for two years and practiced dentistry for 30 years in Union City. He was active in the community as a member of First United Methodist Church, Union City Jaycees and Union City Rotary Club. He served two terms on the Union City city council.
Fritz was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Fred Hansen, and his sister, Betty Johnson.  
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jodie Hansen; three daughters and their spouses, Lisa and Rob Ray of Bean Station, Laura Hansen and Jim Stubbs of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Poppy and Cliff Beach of Knoxville; his son, Frederick Hansen of Morristown; and 11 grandchildren.
