James Powell

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Ridgely chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home, with Bro. Bert Burkett officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Henderson, Jimmy Leake, Allen Tippit, Billy Joe Cook, Billy Harold Davis and David Gooch.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the chapel.
He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and was a Baptist. James worked for the U.S. Corps of Engineers for about 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Mae Powell of Ridgely; two sons, Michael Powell and wife, Julie, of Knoxville and Gary Powell and wife, Julie, of Martin; his sister, Imogene Jones of Stuttgart, Ark.; three grandchildren, Brad Powell, Stephen Powell and wife, Chesney, and Laura Powell; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence “Foots” and Martha “Lady” (Haynes) Powell; two sisters, Pearl Fare and Lonell Kee; two brothers, Raymond Powell and William Powell; and his grandson, Ryan Powell.
