Lewis Sanford

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Obion First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don Scott officiating, assisted by the Rev. Marlon Stevens. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Obion.
Friends may call at the church Friday from 11 a.m. until the hour of services. Cryer Funeral Home in Obion is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Sanford, Randall Webb, Allen Webb, Shane Sanford, Jason Sanford and Robby Wenzler. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Boone, Eugene Hudgins, Sammy Snead and Ashton Webb.
He was born Nov. 13, 1926, in Friendship, son of the late William Virgil and Virgie Mae (Jones) Sanford. He had been a maintenance employee for the former John Deere Co. in Newbern and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He had been a deacon at Obion First Baptist Church for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Joann (Todd) Sanford; three sons, William Sanford of Obion, Roger Sanford of Rives and Wayne Sanford of Union City; two daughters, Patricia Pitt of Hillsboro, Ala., and Quanetta Webb of Trimble; two brothers, Briggs Sanford and James Sanford, both of Yorkville; two sisters, Margie Oken of Paducah, Ky., and Linda Mencell of Texas; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
