Rev. W.L. McCadney
The Rev. Willie Lee “W.L.” McCadney Sr., 85, of Gates died Feb. 22, 2015, at his residence.
He was the pastor of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Dyersburg.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Halls High School gym, with the Rev. Albert McCadney officiating.
Burial will follow at Old Chapel Cemetery in Halls.
Visitation will be held Friday from 1-4 p.m. at Currie’s Funeral Home in Henning and from 5-8 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church.
He was born Jan. 29, 1930, son of the late Will and Lucy Neal McCadney in Lauderdale County. He was raised by his grandmother, the late Della Randolph McCadney. He married Ida Mae (Pitts) McCadney of Gates in 1951.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and received the Bronze Star and Infantry.
He is also survived by five sons, Howard McCadney of Dyersburg, Willie C. McCadney of Gates, Alvin R. McCadney and the Rev. Albert McCadney, both of Union City, and Bobby McCadney of Horn Lake, Miss; three daughters, Phillis McCadney and Dottie McCadney, both of Newbern, and Alisa McCadney of Gates; two sisters, Ida B. McCadney and Lois Morgan, both of Toledo, Ohio; and 77 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
