Coline Owens

Services were set for 1 p.m. today at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Dr. Bobby Williams officiating. Burial was to follow in Stanley’s Chapel Cemetery near Union City.
Pallbearers were to be Tony Garner, Derrell Garner, George Palmertree, Chad Fuzzell, Jake Hall and Bryan Allen.
The family requests that memorials be made to Jones-Walker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4862 ladies auxiliary.
She was born May 10, 1932, in Obion County, daughter of the late Othella “Shorty”  and Lillian LaRue Purvis. She married Vernie B. Garner in 1951. He died  Feb. 7, 2001. She then married Danny Owens Aug. 26, 2010. He survives.
She had retired from the former Brown Shoe Co., where she worked for 27 years. She had previously been employed at the former Salant & Salant and was later employed at Corner Barbecue, all in Union City.
She attended Beech Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Union City and had been a member of Mount Ararat Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Troy. She was also a member of the local VFW auxiliary.
She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and George Palmertree of Hickman, Ky.; two sons, Tony Garner and Derrell Garner, both of South Fulton; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Edwards; her son, Vernie B. Garner Jr.; her sister, Virginia Purvis; and four brothers, Billy Purvis, Robert Purvis, Paul Purvis and Jerry Purvis.
