Richard Sanders

Mr. Sanders was born March 17, 1929, to Ophir Thaddeus and Louise (Sweatt) Sanders. He attended the former Troy High School, where he graduated in 1947. He then went on to attend Castle Heights Military Academy from 1947 to 1948. 
He married the former Catherine “Kitty” Kendall Oct. 6, 1951. He graduated from the University of Louisville in 1956. He was a veteran serving with the 123rd Fighter Bomber Wing during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. 
He was employed by Southern Bell Telephone Co. and South Central Bell Telephone Co., and he retired from AT&T Aug. 21, 1984, with 35 years of service. He was a member of the Rotary Club and was president in both Middlesboro, Ky., and St. Matthews, Ky., chapters. He was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of Troy United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Belle (Kendall) “Kitty” Sanders; four daughters and his son-in-law, Elizabeth Kay Sanders, Debra (Sanders) Faith, Mary Jo and Tom Mueller and Susan Baxter; his sister, Jo Doris (Sanders) Bennett; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Diane Sanders; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer Faith and Tony Claspill, Jeremy and Delanye Faith, Aaron and Christine Mueller and Andrew and Lizzy Mueller; eight great-grandchildren, Taylor Claspill, Justin Claspill, Madicyn Faith, Emmie Faith, Charlotte Mueller, Thomas Mueller, Ava Mueller and Sophie Mueller;  as well as very good friends and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ophir and Louise Sanders; and his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Jeanette Sanders.
