Wilba Scott

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Troy United Methodist Church. Dr. Phillip Cook and the Rev. Judd Mowery will officiate. Burial will follow in Terrace Hill Cemetery near Troy.
Visitation will be held at the church from 5-8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.
Members of the Troy Western Sun Masonic Lodge will serve as pallbearers.
Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Scott was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Troy, son of the late Lannie and Velna (Darnell) Scott. He married the former Bettye Ruth Buchanan Sept. 12, 1944. She died Oct. 14, 2011. Mr. Scott was the owner and operator of the former Scott’s Grocery in Troy and was a retired rural mail carrier. He was a member of Troy United Methodist Church, where he served as choir director from 1949-1999, had served as a Sunday school teacher and had served on numerous committees. He served as mayor of Troy for six years, was an alderman for 14 years, was assistant fire chief for 50 years and was currently serving on the Troy Industrial Board. Mr. Scott was instrumental in getting natural gas service for the town of Troy. He had been a member of the Troy Western Sun Masonic Lodge for 58 years and was a Knights Templar. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Grey and Beverly Scott of Dyer and William and Lee Scott of Palm Coast, Fla.; his twin sister, Anna Mae Muse of Troy; two grandchildren and their spouses, Cody and Aimee (Boehms) Scott of Franklin and Elechia and Erid Harrison of Old Hickory; and five great-grandchildren, Owen Harrison and Ian Harrison, both of Old Hickory, and Grey Scott, Grace Scott and Grier Scott, all of Franklin.
He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Kevin Scott.
