Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Gary Houston, Tommy Carpenter and Ronnie Yoes speaking. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-8 tonight.
Pallbearers will be Bob Reavis, Tim Blackley, Ben Parker, Dan Parker, Randy Anding, George Neblett and Patrick Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Lynn, Chuck Stevens, George Leake and Jerry Vastbinder.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Obion County Public Library at 1221 East Reelfoot Ave., Union City, TN 38261.
She was born Nov. 14, 1935, in Ridgely, daughter of the late Robert Clinton Mingle and the late Dorothy (Paschall) Arkus. She married Olen Short May 31, 1953. He died Jan. 30, 2003.
Mrs. Short was a retired teacher for the Obion County School System, where she taught for 41 years. She was a member of Wynnburg Baptist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma teachers’ sorority and Obion County-Union City Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Lannie Hogg of Hornbeak; her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Lamanda Short of Hornbeak; four grandchildren, Shayanne Cole, Shonda Long, Sharia Hogg and Ashleigh Wilds; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son, David Short.
