Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Walnut Grove Cemetery near Kenton, with Dr. Cecil Sewell and John Paul Berry officiating. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Sunday at White-Ranson Funeral Home.
The family requests that memorials be made to Union City First Baptist Church; or Cub Scouts of America, P.O. Box 152079, Irving, TX 75015.
Pallbearers will be friends and family members.
She was born June 3, 1953, in Brownsville, daughter of the late Joseph McKnight and Joyce (Freemon) Martin. She was employed by Monsanto as a research scientist for 37 years and was a member of Union City First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and an RA teacher and a leader in many children’s ministries. She had been a Cubmaster and den leader for Pack 252 Cub Scouts of America and was serving at the district level for Boy Scouts of America. She was also a former member of the Union City Babe Ruth Baseball Board.
She is survived by two sons and her daughter-in-law, Nathan and Whitney Woods and Ben Woods, all of Knoxville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Carol and Vincent Marrandino of Dixon, Ill., and Janice and David Cooper of Strafford, Mo.; and six nieces and nephews.
