Walter Haden

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Springcreek Cemetery in Smallett, Mo., with the Rev. Raymond Haden officiating. Pallbearers will be family members.
Friends may call at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin from 3-6 p.m. Sunday.
The family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Mid-South Chapter, 326 Ellsworth St., Memphis, TN 38111; or the Pat Summitt Foundation, East Tennessee Foundation, 625 Market St., Suite 1400, Knoxville, TN 37902.
He was born July 6, 1931, in Smallett, son of the late Etcyle DeWitt Haden and Thelma Eleline (Osburn) Haden.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was an English professor at the University of Tennessee at Martin and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean (Ellie) Haden; a son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Julie Haden of Knoxville; a daughter and son-in-law, Natalya and Jack Cody of Paducah, Ky.; a brother and sister-in-law, Loren and Delveta Haden of Springfield, Mo.; a sister and brother-in-law, Venita and Leo Day of Springfield, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Owen Cody and Isabella Haden.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Marie Haden; and a sister, Kathryn Hamilton.
