Allen Hanks

Services will be Wednesday  at 11 a.m. at Karnes & Son Funeral Home of Kenton, with Bro. Mickey Hanks and Bro. Darrell Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in New Salem Cemetery of Mason Hall.
The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Hanks was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Gibson County, the seventh son of a seventh son, the late Mr. Allen Thurman Hanks and Mrs. Hattie (Brewer) Hanks. He was a retired landowner and farmer. Mr. Hanks was the oldest member of New Salem Baptist Church of Mason Hall, a loving and devoted husband and father, and an avid New York Yankees fan.
Mr. Hanks is survived by his spouse of 72 years, whom he married June 7, 1942, Mrs. Ruth (Reed) Hanks; two sons, Allen Reed Hanks Sr. and his wife, Rebecca, and Richard Hanks and his wife, Beverly; his grandson, Allen Reed Hanks Jr.; his granddaughter, Beth Brinkley and her husband, Dewayne; and his great-grandson, Mason Payne.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
