Buck Menees
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, with burial to follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from noon Saturday until the service hour.
The family requests memorials be made to Smith Street Church of Christ, 411 Smith St., South Fulton, TN 38257; or Lourdes Hospice, 911 Joe Clifton Drive, Paducah, KY 42001.
He was born June 30, 1921, in Cayce, Ky., son of the late J.C and Manila (Cason) Menees.
He was a member of Smith Street Church of Christ in South Fulton and Hickman (Ky.) and Fulton Lions clubs and was a past director of Purchase Area Development District, State Board Sheriff Association and County Judge Association. He was a farmer in the Cayce (Ky.) community in his early life and attended Murray (Ky.) State University. He was joint owner of the Treece and Menees service station in Fulton before entering politics in 1966. He was sheriff of Fulton County in Kentucky from 1966-1970, county judge from 1970-1978 and judge executive from 1978-1982. He had lived all of his life in this area.
Buck was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie Lynn Menees, whom he married Feb. 12, 1949; his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl (Menees) and Don Dennis of Beaverton, Ore.; his son, Keith Menees of Memphis; six grandchildren and the spouse of one, Sarah Collado of Brandon, Miss., Lauren Boyens of Nashville, Julianne Shelly of Springhill, Jay Menees of Columbia, S.C., Kelly and Dennis May of Eugene, Ore., and Danielle Dennis of San Antonio; and his great-granddaughter, Peyton Shelly of Springhill.
In addition to his parents, Buck was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Lori Menees, on Sept. 8, 2014.
