Laverne Walton
Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Pirtle officiating. Burial will be in Haynes Memorial Gardens in Tiptonville.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chris Walton, Lucas Hamilton and Shane Hamilton; and her great-grandsons, Matthew Walton, Jameson Hamilton and Jackson Hamilton.

She was a homemaker and caregiver. She was a charter member of Lakeview Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In her earlier years, she enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She spent her life caring for her family and many friends. Many would say Grandma’s house was always where you were the most comfortable. She enjoyed cooking and made an assortment of candies every year at Christmas. She was an avid gardener and loved tending to her many flowers.
Survivors include her two daughters and her son-in-law, Kathy Laverne (Walton) Pierce of Little Rock, Ark., and Kay (Walton) and George Weaver of Dyersburg; five grandchildren and their spouses, Lewis Walton Jr. and Katrina Walton, Chris and Teresa Walton, Vicki and John Starling, Shane and Lisa Hamilton and Lucas and Lacey Hamilton; and nine great-grandchildren, Drew Walton, Jackson Hamilton, Jameson Hamilton, Matthew Walton, Ella Grace Hamilton, Pierce Starling, Abby Walton, Lily Kate Hamilton and Walton Starling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Albert Walton; her son, Lewis Wayne Walton; her parents, James and Lena (Chappell) Newman; her brother, James Newman; five sisters, Octie Bone, Catherine Johnson, Ruth Argo, Para Daniels and Margaret Isbell; and her great-granddaughter, Bailey Grace Hamilton.
