Robert Taylor

Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 1, beginning at 10 a.m. at White-Ranson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. at White-Ranson Funeral Home with his cousin, Dr. Walter Taylor, officiating, assisted by Dr. Cecil Sewell of First Baptist Church Union City. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Trena (White) Taylor; his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Buddy Irvine of Union City; his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and John Hayes of Nashville; his sister, Sandra Crim of Trenton; his sister-in-law, Wanda Cobb of Union City; his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jeremy and Crystal Jones; his granddaughter, Ava Hayes; and two great-granddaughters, Shelby and Meredith Jones.
Mr. Taylor was born Nov. 3, 1937, in the Sidonia community near Sharon, to the late J.D. and Winnie (Winsett) Taylor. By age 16, he had found his love for flight.
He was a commercial pilot and served as vice president of Taylor Aviation, a full-service, fixed-based operation at the Everett-Stewart Regional Airport. He later founded Pioneer Aviation, a charter and pilot-services company, in 1988.
During his more than 50 years as a pilot, he accumulated countless hours of safe time flying local business people, political leaders and famous personalities. Throughout his life, he maintained a pilot’s heart of huge vision and detailed accuracy.
Mr. Taylor was a member of First Baptist Church Union City and served as a deacon.
