William Friess

A Holy Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 9801 Bonita Beach Road in Bonita Springs. Military honors will follow. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the VFW, Post 4254, 10972 K Nine Drive, Bonita Springs, FL 34135.
Formerly of Akron, Ohio, and New Smyrna Beach, Fla., he had been a Bonita resident since 1996. He was born Jan. 12, 1924, in Akron, the son of the late Wendell and Christina Marie (Buchwald) Friess. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a proud Teamster and union representative. In Bonita Springs, he was a life member of VFW Post 4254.
Mr. Friess is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Onorina (Benes) Friess; his beloved children and his daughter-in-law, Lois Yingling of Castleberry, Fla., Arthur and Linda Friess of Union City and Kate Hildreth of Naples, Fla.; his sister, Celia Shaw of Akron; seven cherished grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Gilbert Yingling and Jim Hildreth; and his brother-in-law, Robert Shaw.
