Mr. Shorty Vaughn

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pilot Oak Baptist Church in Kentucky, with burial to follow in Pilot Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton from 5-8 this evening. Mr. Vaughn’s body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the funeral hour.

He was a member of Pilot Oak Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school superintendent, and was a retired truckdriver for Argo-Collier Trucking Co. He had also worked for Arrow Aluminum in Martin and had been employed at South Fulton schools, where he worked as a custodian.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II and he had lived in this area all of his life.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Margaret Walston of Pilot Oak  and Michael and Tammy Vaughn of South Fulton; four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Kay and Billy Joe McCoy, Vicky Lynn and James Conner and Lori Jean and Cory Edmison, all of South Fulton, and Diana Fay and Bennie Brown of Dukedom; 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Vaughn of Silver Springs, Md., and Johnny Vaughn of Fulton; and two sisters, Virginia Martin of Fullerton, Calif., and Dorothy Cross of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Mae (Cruse) Vaughn; his parents, Beckom and Ruth (Morrison) Vaughn; two sisters; and two brothers.
