L.A. Baucom

Graveside services for Mr. Baucom will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery in Kenton.
Visitation will be Thursday at Kenton First Baptist Church from 5-9 p.m. Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Kenton is in charge of arrangements.
He was born April 3, 1928, to the late A.A. and Mary Elizabeth (Bryant) Baucom, three miles northeast of Kenton in Obion County. He married the former Rebecca Faye (Johnson) Lawson June 26, 1968. She survives.
He was employed at the Kenton Supermarket for 20 years and then worked for EW James & Son for 25 years. He served on the Kenton board of aldermen for 16 years. He also served on the Sunnyside Cemetery Board for many years and as president for a year, trustee for 40 years and vice president for 30 years. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club for 20 years and was the Lions Club of Kenton president for a year and a member for 10 years. He was charter member of the Kenton Fire Department, where he served as chief for 10 years. In 1989, he and his son, Michael, earned their high school diplomas together.
He is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Anthony and Tammy Baucom and Michael Alan and Gina Baucom, all of Kenton; two stepchildren and their spouses, Regina Faye and Ricky Patterson of Greenfield and Avery Lynn and Terry Lawson of Kenton; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn McCall Baucom and Levi Locke Baucom; three step-grandchildren and their spouses, Melissa Faye Hayes, Nicholas Ryan Lawson and Robert Paul and Lydia Taylor, all of Kenton; two step-great-grandchildren, Tanner Lane Taylor and Katey Beth Taylor; and his sister, Helen Erwin of Kerrville, Texas.
