Barbara McLeary

Services were May 15 and 16, with Karnes Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Dr. Ray Carroll delivered a particularly insightful message regarding Barbara’s ability to “quietly get the job done.” Her co-workers fondly recalled her work ethic, diligence, kindness and unique sense of humor. Johnny Reed, Jon Carroll, David Croom, Robert Brown, Kasey Harris and Shawn Goodrich, her co-workers, served as pallbearers.
Barbara was an avid reader who enjoyed collecting rock and mineral specimens; researching geology, biology and history; and studying the Bible. Through her learning, she developed a strong commitment to making the world a better place for all mankind, no matter their walk of life.
Memorials may be sent to Robinson Geoscience Research Endowment at UT Martin.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, L.W. and Myrtle (Whitten) London; her sister, Brenda Palmer; her brother, Ray London; and her son, Robert Scott Wheatley.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Butch Reed of Dyer; her children and their spouses, Steve and Angie (Stewart) Wheatley of Gadsden, Ala., Amelia “Amy” Robinson and Josh Johnson of Houston and Chris and Shannon McLeary of Fancy Farm, Ky.; her grandchildren, Jacob, Averie and Lilli Wheatley of Gadsden and Ian and Wyatt McLeary of Fancy Farm; two foster grandchildren of Fancy Farm; her great-granddaughter, Kyree Wheatley of Gadsden; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
